Revived is the Delsin sub-label Ann Aimee! Once again outlet for the more experimental sides of Delsin's electronic music. After the superb fine release by James Kumo, another fine debut EP.
This EP is done by Delta Funktionen, who goes in real life by the name of Niels Luinenburg. 23 years old - living in the northern part of Holland. He’s inspired by Maurizio, Basic Channel, Convextion, Carl Craig, Steve Rachmad, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and others.

This magnificent debut EP, he brings in twice high quality dark atmospheric techno deepness. ‘Nebula’ is the more straight forward track, thick pounding rhythm and vibes make it ending up somewhere between Mills & Maurizio, raw straight techno. ‘Estuary’ gives some deeper dubby vibes, but still with the forward going energy, which a lot of the dubtechno seem to lack these days. The superb artwork is done by another Delta, namely Delta Inc.

Nebula reminds me the days when techno was played in dark foggy basements...it is dirty, pure and raw with a dark atmosphere

Netherlands seem to be the most reproductive soil for contemporary techno music. Newcomers are always fresh and forward thinking. They have their original fashion and they are very far from immitating the past. They make future music now and the lucky labels of course die to release it. Delta Funktionen's music is just like Quince's, Kubra's or Ovatows'. Timeless, spaceless, deepness. Gliding over 4/4 metal rays of beat. Perfect recipe for techno.

Both sides are bang on the money. Foraging in familiar musical territories, they are not breaking any new ground, but are executed with such style and finesse that you have to get involved. Bought the vinyl copy and played 'Estuary' in the warm up at the split party last week..sounded super smooth and warmed the system up nicely!!

A nice EP. Not so original though but on a great sound system they must sound very good and there is a warmness I like. Nebula is the one for me: a great deep and dubby tunnel-like atmospheric techno track. Estuary is cool too. Thanks!

While "classic dubtechno inspired" releases currently seem to flood the market, Delta Funktionen's debut ep stands out as the tracks both contain deepness AND may very well do justice to dancefloors too. Nice one! Charted & will play out :)

2 dope deep tracks. Both work great at different times of the night. Nebula is more upbeat but Estuary submerges the dancer to depths unvisited in a while. Great concept's on Electromagnetic Radiation Pt. 1

Estuary wins prices in the category deep & dubby. Quality stuff, that sits next to the Deepchord guys and the recent Huckaby productions. Nebula is nice and does the trick, but holds little surprises for me.

Ann Aimee history goes back with 2 stunning track, without question is "Nebula" for the dance-floor, is the one!!! ... "Estuary" is more smoking tune and mor for your head, for chilling ...in a nutshell, very cool new release, very berlin inspired sounds and a good start from this classic label

I like the simple head nodding groove on 'Estuary' and can't help but love the warm, dubbed out sounds on top.Reminds me of a mix between Monolake and Deepchord with a touch of Maurizio thrown in. Nebula's a great dj tool that will work on many a dancefloor around the globe.Toe tapping and infectious although not hugely original. All round a promising start and I can't wait to hear what's next from Delta Funktionen.

good to have this sublabel back! For me the Nebula does the thing. nice deep kick, when the bass drops in i get the same feeling like with a M5, it goes on & on & on.. the synths are bringing the warmth in these cold days.. more from this please!!
Anthony Shakir (Shake / Frictional) (Michigan) wrote
