Juju & Jordash - Juju & Jordash

Dekmantel (DKMNTL002)

release date: 21 September 2009

[ Formats ]

First ever Dekmantel release sets the standard thanks to the multi-talented Israeli duo Juju & Jordash. Coming from a various musical background which includes post-rock, jazz and ethnic both Juju as Jordash started playing instruments at very young age. While Juju is the man on the guitar , Jordash on the other hand swore devotion to the piano. These early encounters with music are paying off ever since. After releasing applauded EP’s on well respected labels like Psychostasia, Real Soon, Rope A Dope and Aesthetic Audio their self titled debut album sees the light of day on the freshly formed Dekmantel label.

Pinpointing Juju & Jordash’ style isn’t an easy thing to do. If one would tell you they make fearless and jackin Chicago house they’d reply with a cosmic experimental slow jam. As a result, the LP ranges from experimental tracks like the guitar flooded Jugdish and the jazzy jam Niks till the pulsing deeper stuff like Time Slip Remix and Quasi. Deep Blue Meanies, Pulse A Denura, Dirty Spikes and Jazzy Trance are pure dance floor material: raw, energetic and full of musical bliss.

About Dekmantel
Dekmantel. Or the tornado that struck the Amsterdam house scene like no other in the past two years. Founding fathers Casper Tielrooij and Thomas Martojo have proven their selves true keepers of the oldschool as practised in Chicago and Detroit but without keeping their ears shut for the future. After making name for themselves with infamous parties at venues like Studio 80, Paradiso and Trouw and numerous disco, house and techno flavoured dj-gigs throughout the country the label seems to be the next inevitable step for the musical gobblers.

The Juju & Jordash release comprehends what it is Dekmantel stands for: quality music in all it’s forms whiteout following the hype and always honouring the roots. Please note that the album will soon be followed by an output done by a third well respected musician and the fact that this guy is hailing from the Windy City is no surprise for those who know.

Rahaan made his Dutch debut on Dekmantel ground and his national fan base is growing ever since. In the very near future Chicago based Rahaan will release four EP’s which be celebrated on four different parties called Go Bang! So keep your eyes and ears on the Dekmantel channel, to be continued very soon..

This is an AMAZING album! I am very impressed. This is a very fresh, inspiring, creative, personal, a real artist album!! This type of album needs to be heard especially in this so formatted and a lot of time boring techno and house world, everyone must know about these 2 special versatile ecclectic producers who are making real timeless electronic based music with guts, emotions, depth etc. I love all the tracks and I love it as a whole too. I have been playing some of the tracks from the vinyl and they sound so good. This is one of the best album of 2009 for sure! Full support.

Interesting stuff, reminds me of Legowelt in places but not in a copycat way just with the melodic programming of the synths and those lovely arpeggios and old skool drum machine beats which, may I add, I absolutely love! My fav tracks are 'Time Slip Remix', 'Deep Blue Meanies' & 'Jazzy Trance' all showcasing some serious talent from these guys. I'll be keeping a close eye on JuJu & Jordash as this LP is a mouth watering sign of things to come. Respects most definitely due.

Great debut album. Sounding pretty fresh! It's always hard to choose a favourite track on an album as I think it is meant to be as just one package.. But with this wide range of moods I can't help to think Deep Blue Meanies is totally awesome :-) I love the way the soundscape enters out of totally nothing and brings in this ultra deep 'aquatic' atmosphere. Juju & Jordash have worked towards an unique identity, which is translated perfectly on this album!

An excellent, multi-textured release from a duo who continue to surprise and delight. Whilst it might be easy to pick and choose from the history of house and disco in today's age, they do it with a fresh perspective.
