The next in the current flurry of Fachwerk releases is the German label’s 24th, and again is a various artists effort from the three men behind the sturdy techno stable.
The man who founded and runs the label, Mike Dehnert, is first up with ‘M10’ - a typically full-bodied and dubbed out production which rolls and rolls with taught bass synth notes keeping the whole thing aloft. Glitches sounds dart off from the centre with every rotation and a barley audible vocal patch adds a human touch to proceedings.
Roman Lindau then offers his ‘Grow’ – initially its tense and eerie but, growing in layers, the thing is fleshed out with otherworldly sounds, sharp claps to cut through the dubby soup below and ends up being another devastating dancefloor groove.
For his part, Sascha Rydell injects some sandpaper textures into his prying ‘When You Play It’ – it’s an upright groove with melted and harmonious bell sounds in the background off-set with sharper acid twitches, before Roman Lindau closes the EP with the head-fuck and spangled vibes of his relentless ‘Under Pressure’ .
Like all Fachwerk releases, the techno on offer here is forceful but warm, dubby and rolling… the trio of talents behind the label wouldn’t have it any other way.
