After two superb Eps, the Ann Aimee label now comes with it’s first full length album. Alex Cortex does the job, and his CD ‘Inward CTRL’ contains 24 (!) tracks, ranging from ambient sound scapes to complex rhythm affairs. As a whole it reminds of Black Dog Productions, Boards of Canada, The Detroit Escalator Co, CiM and likes. He perfectly combines intriguing melodies over rhythms with a little touch of the Detroit sound.
Alex Cortex is a young, multi-talented guy from Germany and has done releases for labels such as Source and Klang Elektronik.. The brilliant pieces of electronica on this album, bring back some needed warmth & soul in electronica, where complexity too often seems to have become an aim on it’s own. The album comes in a catchy three-flipped digipack CD and full colour LP-sleeve, both designed by the Dutch designer Delta Inc. Believe us, this is gonna be a electronica classic!
