on Vernon Felicity - Dawning EP
at 9:34AM on April 12th, 2013
"breaking silence" and "3" are both completely divine. ol' boris never ceases to amaze me!
on D-Ribeiro - The Circus EP
at 2:42PM on March 21st, 2013
both "the circus" and "silent thoughts of a black man," while dramatically different in sound, are completely bad ass, and really show this artists' breadth and strengths. great stuff!
on Mystica Tribe - Flowers
at 7:07PM on March 14th, 2013
"ripple marks dub" is really great. loving it!
on Makam & Roch Dadier - Lost Archives - Part II
at 7:00PM on March 14th, 2013
beast of a release! the makam track is a monster, but both of these are party monsters.
on Perseus Traxx - Tales From The Night Sky - Part 1
at 5:18PM on February 5th, 2013
"return to seriphos" immediately caught my attention - definitely going to beat that one up.
on Bleak - Origins Of Chaos
at 5:12PM on February 5th, 2013
quite a bit funkier for ol' bleak this time around! really enjoying both of these - i foresee them being pitched down and worked hard late at night.
on Conforce - Time Dilation EP
at 4:18PM on January 16th, 2013
interesting to see some harder edged production coming from conforce. should be a fun ep to experiment with - liking "nomad" the most.
on Skudge & Different World - Lost Archives - Part I
at 5:19PM on January 3rd, 2013
that skudge track is like no other of theirs, and i really love it, but this different world cut is divine. makes me feel like i'm back home in detroit. loving it!
on Various Artists - Field 09
at 5:08PM on January 3rd, 2013
might be the best field yet! all four are beasts!!
on Chicago Skyway - Heavens & Angels EP
at 5:59PM on November 10th, 2012
gorgeous ep!!! beautiful, melodic, almost trance-inducing chicago house. loving this!! charting, playing, enjoying.
on Yan Cook - 2x2
at 11:41PM on November 7th, 2012
killer raw, dark dub techno!! awesome shit!! can't wait to use both of these ones. definitely picking "rhomb" as the winner here, but both are super good.
on Mike Dehnert - Umgangston EP
at 10:57PM on November 7th, 2012
some interesting sounds from dehnert! really enjoying a bit of variety to his style, and this ep is definitely that. nice work!
on Unbroken Dub - Checkpoint EP
at 3:57AM on September 21st, 2012
absolutely smashing ep from unbroken dub! he never ceases to amaze me, and i'm glad his output is always so consistent and of such high quality. killer producer, killer ep!!
on Various Artists - Field 08
at 9:06PM on August 10th, 2012
artefakt's track instantly sold me on this ep without even listening to the rest...but the other tracks are all fantastic as well!! really loving steffi's track, and mark du mosch brings the heat. area forty_one rounds it out perfectly - super chill and beautiful ending.
on Innerspace Halflife - Wind/Phazzled
at 6:29PM on August 6th, 2012
two totally killer tracks. damn hard to pick a winner from either of these because they're both so purpose built, but i think the nod goes to "wind." beast of an acid track!
on Various Artists - Field 07
at 5:47PM on May 4th, 2012
another killer ep from the field camp. definitely the original from duplex and eshu's tracks are the winners here - notably eshu. amazing sounding track!
on Claro Intelecto - Reform Club
at 3:46PM on March 28th, 2012
killer deep release from the man from manchester. awesome sounding lp that i'm definitely going to be finding plenty of uses for. can't wait to check this full album out!
on Gerry Read - Yeh Come Dance
at 4:25PM on February 22nd, 2012
the rawest of house from mr. read. fantastic sounding collection, with "crawlspace" and "crooked" being the two i'm feeling the most. chunky goodness!
on Yør - Modern Slaves Of Contemporary Contexts EP
at 4:18PM on February 22nd, 2012
hard to pick the gem out of this lot when all four are so killer. beast of an ep that i can't wait to play. nice work!
on Sawlin - Techno Dumping
at 3:49PM on February 22nd, 2012
"boring feels" sounds like precisely the deep techno ride i like to go on, but the other three are a bit too dark for my tastes. well produced, but not sure i can get behind it entirely.
on San Proper & Aroy Dee - Perfume
at 4:01PM on January 11th, 2012
really solid grouping of deep, sexy house here. big fan of the reprise of "perfume," but i think the proper groove mix of "usher" is the champion. expect to hear that a lot in the next few months!
on MK & The 7th Plain - The MKappella / Lost
at 3:57PM on January 11th, 2012
bizarrely i was never one for that mk track, but it definitely sounds relevant in todays musical context. the slater track, however, has always been a burner, and its great to have a clean version of it finally!
on Various Artists - Field 06
at 3:28PM on November 15th, 2011
killer tracks all around! delta and rod's are the two standouts, but mark du mosch's heady techno burner shouldn't be overlooked. great stuff from the field boys once again.
on Morphosis - Too Far (Dettmann's Definitions)
at 3:25PM on November 15th, 2011
some chilled out dubby sounds from dettmann with these remixes. will be interesting to hear them out on a nice system. will give it a shot!!
on Yør - Rave EP
at 2:30PM on November 3rd, 2011
nice heady, deep, detroit beatdown styled tracks here. really gorgeous stuff. i can see these coming in handy, for sure!
on Various Artists - Inertia #4
at 2:27PM on November 3rd, 2011
now this is a monster collection! sascha, skudge and conforce all contribute some of the best cuts of this series, all on one piece of wax! amazing stuff!!
on Various Artists - Inertia #3
at 2:22PM on November 3rd, 2011
another fantastic set of tracks here. i think the clear winner for me is ozka's gorgeous track, with dehnert's party jam in close second. the others are great, but they're a little too industrial for me.
on Various Artists - Inertia #2
at 4:52PM on October 5th, 2011
opening this to see two of my favourite producers of the last year, marcelus and area forty_one, both on the same record leads me to believe that round two of "inertia" is going to be just as good as the first...and it is! fantastic collection again!
on Various Artists - Inertia #1
at 4:48PM on October 5th, 2011
four of the top producers on one piece of wax? what could go wrong! absolutely nothing is out of place with part one of the "inertia" series, from label hero delta funktionen's killer lead off track, to peter van hoesen's monster "last one at 1080," and right on through to roman and sawlin's b-side burners. a beast of a first in the series, which means the next three have some tough competition.
on Conforce - Escapism
at 4:44PM on October 5th, 2011
holy hell! unbelievable stuff from boris here! the man has always been one of the most amazing producers of this time, but he's really outdone himself here. impossible to choose a best track here...all of it sounds pristine!
on Conforce - Escapism
at 4:44PM on October 5th, 2011
holy hell! unbelievable stuff from boris here! the man has always been one of the most amazing producers of this time, but he's really outdone himself here. impossible to choose a best track here...all of it sounds pristine!
on D'Marc Cantu - How Are We Doing?
at 3:48PM on September 1st, 2011
both of these are quite gorgeous. the wonky beatdown detroit vibe of "how are we doing?" really has me hooked, and i can totally see this destroying a dancefloor before the sun comes up. "a second earth" is a gorgeous sounding floater - good for drifting off and spacing out. lovely stuff!
on Redshape - Son Of A...
at 4:51PM on August 31st, 2011
redshape is no stranger to the bizarre, but the thing that sets him apart from others is the quality. two beasts here!! while "son of a..." is a head trip to define all head trips, "kracken's game" is some proper detroit funk. gorgeous track!!
on Conforce - Dystopian Elements EP
at 6:19PM on July 25th, 2011
Is it even remotely possible for Conforce to make a bad track? I'm going to assume the answer is "no," because, yet again, he delivers some seriously amazing stuff. "Vacuum" will most likely get the most play from me, but I know that all of them will be used eventually. Killer EP here!
on Dcook & Chicago Skyway - Lager EP
at 3:27PM on June 8th, 2011
loving the large swells of "lager nord" - killer house for those big moments on the dancefloor when everyone is blissed out. should be a beast on a huge system. the obsolete music technology remix is also a great one. the shuffled drums definitely will keep the feet moving. great ep!!
on Area Forty_One - Discharging Clouds
at 3:18PM on June 8th, 2011
well what have we here!! fantastic new approach to techno here - i'm really liking what i'm hearing. very dark, very brooding, very mysterious, and very, very well produced. these will definitely be the perfect brain melting sounds for those twisted evenings in the darkness. amazing!!! impossible to pick a winner here, but i'm going with "mjolnir," "supercell," and "cumulonimbus" as the three i'll be playing the most.
when thinking of two perfect remixers to tackle john beltran, my mind instantly drifts to sven weisemann and kassem mosse - both of which turn in brilliant variations on two chillout classics. kassem's retains most of his standard sound, with chunky depths and a solid groove, while weisemann channels his desolate moniker to bring us a xine-styled sweeper.
on Aroy Dee - Beauty & Life
at 12:10AM on May 17th, 2011
a combination of lush detroit vibes and some stomping darkness, the new ep from aroy dee presents the best of both worlds.
on John Beltran - Ambient Selections
at 12:00AM on May 17th, 2011
gorgeous collection of ambient here. beltran was and is one of the kings of the genre, and his originality reigns supreme and has influenced far too many to name. killer work for a killer compilation!
on Redshape - In Trust We Space
at 7:07PM on May 7th, 2011
"laser" is that standard redshape brilliance everyone has come to love and try to copy. nobody does it better than the master though!
on R-A-G - Rage EP
at 9:15PM on May 5th, 2011
wow!!! "rage" is pure jack and nothing but quality. both mixes of that track are killer, with the entire ep coming together with incredible precision.
on Delta Funktionen - Setup Three: O/F/F
at 8:58PM on May 5th, 2011
i'm fairly certain its impossible for delta to make a bad track...and he again proves he's a genius with four more monsters. really going to enjoy playing "data economics" and "another dimension," but i'm sure all four will be used in the near future.
on D5 - Neutrino EP
at 12:48AM on March 5th, 2011
loved it when it first came out, and i still love it the second time around. "sequesna" is always a beauty for those early hours.
on D'Marc Cantu - Set Free / Tonight
at 12:45AM on March 5th, 2011
chunky acid? don't mind if i do! killer work here - definitely a mind bender.
on Mike Dehnert - Framework
at 12:17AM on March 5th, 2011
unsurprisingly, dehnert's lp is a serious beast. he doesn't really let you breath all to much with this one - "klartext" stands out as the most intriguing of the bunch.
on Mike Dehnert - Before Framework
at 12:13AM on March 5th, 2011
nice to hear mr. dehnert's funky, sexy side again - "moment" and "discreet" are absolute gems and seriously work the dancefloor hard. nice and sexy!
on Morphosis - What Have We Learned
at 12:12AM on March 5th, 2011
this one can easily go the distance for "record of the year." absolutely brilliant work from morphosis. cannot wait to listen to this one...a LOT.
