on Delta Funktionen - Sun Storm / Onkalo (Karenn Remix)
Oooooooh yes please. The Karenn is, unsurprisingly, dope, and I'm really into both "Sun Storm" and "Challenger." The first is all rickety and fucked up, the latter is the perfect Seefeel-gone-electro vibe. Goes great with the rain outside the window right now... at 12:33PM on April 5th, 2013

on Mike Dehnert - Placide EP
This record's so damn good. "Charger" gives me chills. Dehnert has such a special touch. at 7:30PM on March 25th, 2013

on Various Artists - Field 08
Fantastic. Mark Du Mosch sounds better than ever here, and a new Steffi production always makes my day. LOVE Area Forty One's track. Best EP in the Field series that I've heard yet. at 1:10PM on August 11th, 2012

on Chicago Shags - The Family Album
"Firetruck Sunday" is a clear standout to me... that bass is something, and what happens around 4:16 is heavenly. at 5:29PM on May 4th, 2012
on Fudge Fingas - Amaranthine Labyrinth EP
That's genius. The first two tracks are absolutely mental, and "Kinski" is deep and a little bit twisted in all the right ways. Reminds me a little of old Metamorphic records a little bit. Very strong. at 5:27PM on May 4th, 2012
on Various Artists - Field 07
This is juicy. Love the groove of ESHU's "For You," and the whole EP is damn fine. at 5:24PM on May 4th, 2012

on Soul 223 - Almost Like It Used To Be
"Almost Like It Used to Be" is really cool... I also like the hip-hop vibes of "Arties Mood. at 2:28PM on April 25th, 2012
on R-A-G - Black Rain EP
"The Fog" is great! So dark and creepy (and bleepy). Fantastic.
Digging the ambient mix of "Black Rain" too.... at 2:18PM on April 25th, 2012

on Yør - Modern Slaves Of Contemporary Contexts EP
As always, Yør is on some other shit entirely. Loving the whole record, especially "ABCM." at 11:37AM on March 13th, 2012
on Gerry Read - Yeh Come Dance
Yeah, this is good. "Bozza" is my favorite for now, but I'm sure that each track is going to find its chance to shine... Nice signing! Big fan of his Fourth Wave records too. at 11:30AM on March 13th, 2012
on Sawlin - Techno Dumping
Good stuff -- "Boring Feels" is definitely my favorite. Nice NWAQ-meets-STL vibes, or something like that. "Neid auf Vacuum" is also pretty killer. at 11:05AM on March 13th, 2012
on Conforce - Escapism
Took me my damn sweet time to get around to spending time with this, but there's some wonderful music here. "Shadows of the Invisible" is a real standout -- deserves a single release with remixes -- and "Timelapse" is another highlight, going in a totally different direction. I love "Aquinas Control" and "Diversion" as well, with that luscious early '90s R&S/Apollo feel. Great stuff. at 2:34PM on November 29th, 2011
on Various Artists - Field 06
Some lovely stuff here -- love the nail-biting quality of Rod's "MLMFKR," and love how Mark Du Mosch's track goes from sooty to sunny -- really unexpected. Roberto Auser's "Fatal Attraction" is a beautiful way to close it out, with some Blade Runner-caliber cosmic noir. at 2:24PM on November 29th, 2011

on Morphosis - Too Far (Dettmann's Definitions)
Review coming soon in The Wire. Feeling both of Dettmann's mixes, particularly #2! at 2:15PM on November 29th, 2011
on Perseus Traxx - Coded Emotion
Fantastic release. Just the kind of deep, resonant, emotive, yet still driving techno that I'm always looking for. And the synths really set it apart -- clearly lovingly programmed. at 9:15PM on November 17th, 2011
on Yør - Rave EP
Beautiful. I've never heard of Yor before, but this is right up my alley. All three tracks are strong; "Rave" is great, and I love "2712." Classic, even classy, but also original in its own quiet way - and just dirty enough. at 8:45PM on November 3rd, 2011
on Various Artists - Inertia #4
Love the Conforce track - exactly the kind of dark, slightly abstracted vibe that I'm into. Also digging Cosmin TRG and Sascha Rydell tracks a ton. Really controlled and linear, at least going from the samples here, but not mere "tools" either. (Though they have a definite functionalism that I appreciate.) at 8:26PM on November 3rd, 2011
on Various Artists - Inertia #3
It's a little tougher than I'm in the mood for right now, but that'll probably change as the winter comes on. In any case, I appreciate the depth of it and the range of the four cuts. The Ozka's my favorite, and I dig how fucked up Lucy's cut feels. at 8:17PM on November 3rd, 2011
on The Please - 's-Gravendijkwal EP
Holy crap, this is amazing. "Abodigital Dishwasher" sounds like nothing else... I didn't realize it was a Delsin release when it popped up in my iTunes, and I literally had no idea what in the world it could be. A good feeling. The rest of the EP is brilliant as well. Daaaamn. at 10:44PM on October 6th, 2011
on Conforce - Dystopian Elements EP
How did I miss this before? Gorgeous stuff -- amazing sound design, and the tempos/moods are right up my alley. "Luminous" and "Lonely Run" are probably my favorites, but that's by a slim margin... Great. at 2:18PM on August 11th, 2011
on Dcook & Chicago Skyway - Lager EP
Ooh, "Lager Nord" is gorgeous -- I love those detuned synths. Spine-tingling! Thumbs up for the Aroy and Obsolete remixes too... at 2:54PM on June 8th, 2011
on Area Forty_One - Discharging Clouds
This sounds wonderful, particularly "Coalescence" and "Supercell"... It's a little darker than my mood right now, but I'm sure come October/November I'm going to be all over this! at 2:51PM on June 8th, 2011
on John Beltran - Kassem Mosse & Sven Weisemann Remixes
The samples sound lovely -- especially the Kassem Mosse remix, but I'm sure the Weismann is gonna be dope when I hear the whole thing. at 2:45PM on June 8th, 2011
on John Beltran - Ambient Selections
Beltran's "10 Days of Blue" is an all-time favorite of mine, so this is a very welcome reissue. Very happy to discover some tracks I don't seem to know, as well... at 5:44PM on May 4th, 2011
on Aroy Dee - Beauty & Life
These samples are way too short for music like this, I suspect... Anyway, Ra.H remix sounds great, and so do the originals (though from the samples, "Life" sounds awfully like "Beauty"). at 5:42PM on May 4th, 2011
on Redshape - In Trust We Space
Very, very nice. Love hearing a slightly different direction from him. Can't pick a fave out of this release, both tracks are wonderful, and both scratch a different itch... at 5:38PM on May 4th, 2011
on R-A-G - Rage EP
Sounds good -- "Without U" is the one that really grabs me. I'm a sucker for those chords... at 5:37PM on May 4th, 2011
on Delta Funktionen - Setup Three: O/F/F
raw and nasty! parts of it are a bit harder than i typically go, but i really dig "miss communication," and "data economics" is nice too... at 5:32PM on May 4th, 2011
on Delta Funktionen - Setup Two: Fusion
Naaaaaaasty. I've been listening to doom metal all morning, and didn't really think I felt like listening to anything else -- but this, oddly enough, fits the bill quite nicely. (Not that it sounds like metal.) Killer x4. at 10:40AM on November 4th, 2010
on Morphosis - WHWL - Remixes Part 1
Unsurprisingly, I love the NWAQ mix... sounds like Emeralds gone techno! Gorgeous. at 10:38AM on November 4th, 2010
on Redshape - Future Shock
Great record -- really nice range, it's great to have three tracks that each have such a strong sense of identity. My fave Redshape in a while, I think. at 10:26AM on November 4th, 2010
on 2 AM/FM - Desolate Cities
"Give the World" is great -- love the contrasting synth sounds in there. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up... at 3:42PM on September 23rd, 2010
on A Made Up Sound - Rear Window
Very cool. I love that there's a straighter, 4/4 version and then the really broken one. at 3:39PM on September 23rd, 2010
on Terrance McDonald - Mind Over Matter
Goddamn, this stuff dates from 1991? Mindblowing. I love the out-of-control feel of it. No MIDI here, that's for sure. :) at 10:55PM on August 21st, 2010
on Conforce - Grace EP
"Grace" and "Insecure" are both really nice. He does a great job of making fluid sound muscular. at 9:04PM on June 10th, 2010
on Delta Funktionen - Setup One: Decorum
"Please Identify" and "One's Space" are really cool -- tight, streamlined, gently freaky... at 8:49PM on June 10th, 2010
on R-A-G - Beyond
really nice stuff here. i think "beyond" is my favorite, just because it so perfectly captures a certain kind of dreamy state... at 8:44PM on June 10th, 2010
on Syrinx - B.D.O. EP
Nice. Flickery. Particularly feeling "Breakdown" -- it's quiet, but there's real force behind it. Also digging "Outro" -- always have room in my life for ambient sketches like that. at 8:41PM on April 14th, 2010
on Dj Yoav B. - Love Dubs
Fantastic. "Higher Love" is just beautiful, and it works so well at that slow-ish tempo. Also really feeling "Soul Surrender," for its grinding, slow-burning intensity. (I feel like some of the crackle on the glitchy moments is a little distracting, sometimes, but only minimally.) at 8:34PM on April 14th, 2010
on Ross 154 - Until My Heart Stops..
Promo text of the year (even if it was written back in 2004). And the record is stunning. Maybe I wasn't paying attention the first time out? Silly me. I'm probably too chicken to attempt beatmatching the appropriately named "Kaoz," but "Until My Heart Stops" is just the kind of track I get teary over... at 8:10PM on April 14th, 2010
on Morphosis - Running Out / Musafir
This is great -- and no wonder, now that I realize this is Ra.H. Love both tracks, but I particularly love "Musafir." Atonal and unafraid to be ugly. at 8:05PM on March 20th, 2010
on San Proper - Sex Drive Rhythm EP
Yeah, this is killer. I love the breakbeaty feel to "Love Baby Love," and the slo-mo "Sex Drive Rhythm" is a killer as well! at 4:08PM on February 16th, 2010
on Delta Funktionen - Electromagnetic Radiation Part II
beautiful, beautiful record. every single track is great, will definitely play all of them. at 5:01PM on August 1st, 2009
on Aroy Dee - The Planets
very nice. i really like the dragging, druggy, feel of the original. such weird, warbly sonics... at 4:45PM on August 1st, 2009
on D5 - Floatation Tank
Beautiful and classic. I actually don't remember this track from the first time around, so I'm thrilled to discover it now. I love how the Detroit sensibilities are balanced with a sense of timbre that sounds almost Japanese, at least to these ears, like some old Apollo/R&S releases. "Intruders" is gorgeous as well. at 4:34PM on August 1st, 2009
on Newworldaquarium - The Force (Ame Remixes)
(Full feedback now:) Brilliant EP. The NWAQ is such a rare pleasure -- the world needs more "ambient" tracks like this one. Beautifully executed. As for the Ame remix, it's amazing what they managed to do with the source material. The breakbeat is really refreshing as well. I love all the twists and turns the track takes. at 4:29PM on August 1st, 2009
on Quince - My Life's Rhythm
"electric" is my pick here -- i like the weird, off-kilter fillip to the rhythm, like something's just barely out of phase. awesome focus to the whole thing too. at 8:09PM on May 2nd, 2009
on Legowelt - Slompy Jitt EP
Fantastic release. I've never heard Legowelt sound like this -- deep, melancholic, unusually restrained. Gorgeous. "Lovestory SH21" and "Police 303" are my two favorites, but the whole EP is golden. at 8:05PM on May 2nd, 2009
on Planetary - Matter Of Sound/Inner View
Good stuff; I'm particularly feeling "Matter of Sound" for its moody depths. Great to have this stuff getting a reissue! at 1:45AM on April 23rd, 2008
on Vince Watson - Ethereal
This is just fantastic -- so lush and luscious. Amazing stuff. at 1:40AM on April 23rd, 2008
on Ripperton & Alex Attias - The Last Hour
Always thrilled to hear new material from both Ripperton and Alex Attias, so having a combo is a double treat. Really feeling this -- I like how dark and streamlined it is; great use of the blasts of white noise as a tonal/timbral element. It's slow, too, which always makes me happy... Good work! at 10:03PM on April 21st, 2008
on Sterac aka Steve Rachmad - Rond Bot EP
Man, this is just the thing -- "Bot" is fucking wicked. Hypnotic, twisted, but also strangely tender. Great stuff. at 1:22PM on March 29th, 2008
